All players must register and pay for tryouts. The reason we do this is….

  1. If we made tryouts free or too cheap, we would have many more players tryout than we already have. This makes it worth coming with the hope of making a team instead of just coming for an experience.
  2. Travel Baseball is a commitment and paying for a tryout where you get your moneys worth out of it is the first sign of commitment.
  3. We pay our professional coaches and we pay them well. Coaches of the teams trying out, sit back and evaluate while other Bombers coaches run the tryouts.
Players should always encouraged to wear running shoes/turfs to the park, baseball pants, and a baseball hat. Players should also bring their baseball gear (cleats, glove, bat, helmet) and a drink. With the heat in July, players are free to take drink breaks when needed. ***Turf shoes or Molded Cleats must be worn to any of the tryouts being held at Field 4 at Wills Park which is a full turf field.
You do not need to come to both tryout dates but can if you wish. If the coaches need to see you back for a second tryout they will be in touch with you and communicate that to you.
Neither of our two 12U teams for 2022-23 will attend Cooperstown as of right now but that is subject to change. The team will travel to at least one, maybe two, destination trips through the season in place of Cooperstown.
Each age group is different and each team has a separate budget. Please contactAaron Alvarezregarding any costs questions or the coach of the specific team you are trying out for.

After each year is over, every player has to earn a spot on the next year’s team. There are no reserved spots for anyone regardless if they were on a Bombers team the prior year or somewhere else. Obviously, some players have EARNED their spots throughout the season to continue with the team but players are never GIVEN a spot for any reason including dad being a coach, dads influence, friendships, clients of Bombers staff.

The roster size for each team depends on the age group and the coach. Typically we carry 11 players for 8u-11u, 12-13 players for 12u, and 14+ for 13u and 14u.

High School age teams all differ and a lot of it is based on amount of Pitcher Onlys a team has. Minimum a 15u team will carry is 16. 16u and 17u will carry minimum of 18-20 players.

Bombers Baseball strongly believes that if we select your son, it is now our coaching staffs job to help him improve and develop over time as a ballplayer. Our roster sizes are intentional to allow for players to get adequate practice time, playing time and rest time. All players will receive a fair chance to compete for playing time and should never be mistreated by a coach. Paying for Travel Baseball does not mean you are “paying for playing time”. You are paying for your son to have the opportunity to work and earn his playing time. While head coaches will ultimately determine the playing time for their team members, Bombers Baseball expects each team’s full roster to be used regularly as long as the players do their part in development, in the classroom and being a great teammate. Please note, there will be times in every season (bracket play) where the lineup gets tighter and playing time may become a reward for positive performance. Coaches are expected to tell the families what t If my child does NOT make a team, is it still possible to be a part of Bombers Baseball and/or Grand Slam Sports Center? Absolutely. We hope players elect to develop with us at Bombers Baseball and Grand Slam Sports Center regardless of where they play travel ball or high school ball. Bombers Baseball offers private instruction in hitting, pitching, defense and catching throughout the year. These services are open to any interested ball player wanting to develop and take their game to the next level. Please visitwww.GrandSlamSportsCenter.com for more information on our instruction and scheduling.
